Israel vs. The World?

If you haven't been paying attention, Israel has (finally) decided to start attacking enemy operations at large. They've effectively declared war on these groups, and the countries who back them. The only problem is, that's quite a few countries, and if Iran backs Syria, and the US backs Israel, we could be looking at a major conflict. The only question is, have the Islamists made it inevitible?

John McCain is an aspiring tyrant

He's against the First Amendment when it interferes his campaign finance 'reform'. He's openly said that he views the FA as an obstacle to an 'uncorrupt' gov't. He would much rather shut out The People than work with them, McCain-Feingold makes that clear.

He's verbally aggressive against people who oppose him, and he loves anyone who works under him (like his staff) or anyone with a camera. It should be obvious he's a master manipulater; virtually none of his peers in the Senate like him, but the press and his constituency do.

That's the one thing both gov't parasites and wealthy businessmen have in common. They always want one more of whatever they happen to have.

The difference, of course, is the parasites (unions, activists, regulatory agencies) have to take that +1 from somewhere, whereas the much-maligned businessman has to convince people to give it to him. That's the reason parasites do less with more, and businessmen do more with less. The parasites need an excuse to take, and 'insufficiant' resources is as good as they can get. Since the businessman can't take, he can't say "I need more to just keep the service you have now going" without convincing people that he really does. If his competitors don't need it, he's done. But the parasites use force and coercion to get their +1.

Question!

Why are gun bans sold as crime control? I mean, aren't the people the bans are supposed to hamper the very same people that will ignore them?

I don't believe for an instant that the gun banners are that stupid. I am willing to believe that they live in genuine fear of violence, however. Any kind of violence, from that of the mass murderer to that of the grandmother defending herself from said murderer.

How many times have you read/heard/discussed arms control and gotten into the more philosophical debate on self-defense, and they were firmly against it? How many times have you heard "I'm just glad the victim wasn't armed, someone else might've gotten hurt in the crossfire"? "Active Compliance" rhetoric?

Violence begets violence?

Thought experiment: I mug you. You shoot me. I die. No more violence, at least from me, right?

Another experiment: I mug you. You surrender. I mug someone else later. Makes sense logically, right? Since most criminals tend to be repeat offenders, and historically people who live by violence tend to do it a lot.

So which one leads to more violence, your violence, or your pacifism? Pacifist memes like VbV do incredible amounts of harm, because they give people an excuse to be cowards, which in turn makes violent people's lives easier, leading to more violent people. Things like the increased technological abilities of law enforcement help obscure this fact, but the fact remains.

Look at the salesmen in a gun shop, chances are they're armed. When's the last time you heard of someone robbing one?

10%?

The ten percent rule. Very simple, any project that can not be simply proven to affect 10% of the population gets dropped down one level of governence. If a bridge in Florida is not a help to 10% of the NATION, the federal government can not finance it. IT drops to Florida. If the bridge does not help 10% of the people of Florida, it drops to the county level, and so on. Let the people who are getting the benefit of programs pay for them. Let's see how important all these public works projects really are. Stop the taxpayers from paying for infrastructure that paves the way for huge developer profits. Now, on the other side of the coin, if the bridge is part of the expansion of the Interstate system, NOT a part used as city freeways, then it can be said it will help 10% of the nation, as it can be proven that the Interstate system has been a hugely successful federal program.

I don't know. Hard-and-fast rules in legislation are only as useful as the people they apply to are honest, or stupid. This kind of rule would probably kill stuff like Alaska's "Bridge To Nowhere", but even then, the option to commute might increase local commerce, which would increase demand, etc. until it nominally effects 10% of the country.

What we should do for infrastructure is go private: http://www.fee.org/publications/the-freeman/article.asp?aid=2471. It's worked before, it could work again. Keep in mind, this is for Federal projects only, not state projects. (Link: http://amateureconblog.blogspot.com/)

It's time conservatives left the Republican Party. It has become obvious that the GOP is only interested in pursuing conservative objectives every other October. The Democrats are listing left, and the Republicans seem to be only interested in adding moderate leftists to their ranks.

The problem, of course, is where to go. The idealogical parties are generally held to be a joke, not a viable option, and more importantly, they compete for the same small voter base. However, the rise and fall of parties is not impossible here in America, as there have been many successfull parties throughout our history, especially when a large part of one party grows disaffected and jumps ship.

So what are our options? I say we take all the fringe parties on the Right, along with GOP defectors, and form a Federalist Coalition party. The main platform of this party would be the decentralization of government decision-making, ending Federal encroachment into what should be State authority. Obviously, this makes for a national party, but not a local one. The local parties could focus on reducing the effect of government in citizen's lives, or reducing the burdens local citizens and businesses have to bear. In short, this party will be founded on, rather than adopt, the principle of shrinking government.

I propose the major platfrom planks be:

The reduction of centralized control over local issues
Reduction of the number of Executive agencies in existence
Introduction of a flat tax, or a national sales with an amendment permenantly repealing the income tax, and prohibiting the Federal government from using taxes as social engineering.
The elimination of the current tax code, and the introduction of a new tax code that makes basic math look hard.
An amendment restricting the amendments that do not explicitly apply to the states to the Federal government, ending the Incorporation doctrine. Most states already have equal or greater protections as the Bill Of Rights, and States can add them if they so choose.
Amending the Constitution to term-limit all members of Congress, ending the existence of a static political class where corruption is endemic and that has no qualms about passing incumbent protection measures.

Now, the real question is, how can we make this a reality? The internet makes it easier than it has been in the past, but still incredibly difficult. The main thing is to spread the word. This does NOT mean spamming everyone in your address book, but directly telling people. Not just people, but people other people listen to. Conservative voices on the internet are incredibly disgruntled about the GOP, and many of them realize that the GOP looks at us as free votes; sure, we might be mad at them, but they're better than Hillary, or whatever Socialist the Dems put forward as a contender. So e-mail, comment, or contact those Conservative policy leaders you read, watch or listen to. THIS IS A REAL OPTION, and it can be done. The world is set for it, we just have to try.
